Interesting Research by Bob Proctor

Recently I was studying a research project, which revealed some rather interesting information. Apparently a study was conducted a number of years ago which took three years to complete. Those involved in the research studied 10,000 people in 25 states to determine why some people with talent are successful while others with an equal amount of talent are unsuccessful.

The answer to the question can be expressed in a single word. You can scoff at the word and call it trite if you want to. You can dismiss it as a cliche if you choose, but it will go right on being a determining factor in your success or failure. The word is Persistence.

A professor at the University of California Institute of Personality declared that success is gained and I quote, by a persistence growing out of a self-acceptance, a trust in others, and a resulting conviction that work and effort are meaningful and worthwhile. Gifted persons who utilize their abilities possess these factors in abundance. Those who fail to make use of their talents do not.

Permit me to emphasize these three essentials for you so that you can give your conscious attention to them.

1. A self-acceptance;

2. A trust in others; and

3. A resulting conviction

That work and effort are meaningful and worthwhile. Out of these three essentials, persistence grows. Without them, persistence breaks down. You might ask yourself if you possess those three essentials.

Napoleon Hill, in his masterpiece Think and Grow Rich, devoted an entire chapter to Persistence. He said, Persistence is to your character like what carbon is to steel.
Read Hill’s chapter on Persistence from Think and Grow Rich every day for 30 days and see how mentally strong you will become.
